The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

20 people braved the rain on 2 January 2013 for architecture journalist Tony Minichiello's informative walking tour of 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly', looking at the highs and lows of Holloway's historic thoroughfare and its surroundings.

The walk focused on local landmarks along Holloway Road, including Manor Gardens Centre, the old Royal Northern Hospital, St John the Evangelist Church - where walk-goers met vicar Karowei Dorgu and warden Maggie Smyth (pictured with Tony Minichiello) and enjoyed a cup of tea - St Gabriels Church and Archway Methodist Church.

People who came along had a lot of fun, saying:

"Despite the rain we really enjoyed the second of these [The Good, the Bad and the Ugly] Holloway Road walks and hope that the excellent Tony Minichiello can lead us on some other jaunts in the area. Another brilliant Rowan Arts event!"

"Thanks alot for guiding us onwards and upwards up the Holloway Road. Im certainly not a church fan but enjoyed all three of the churches  visited especially the last which put the history of the Archway in context."

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly was part of Discover Holloway, a year-long project through which volunteers and devised and led themed-walks around Holloway.
