Animated Music

Led by acclaimed classical pianist Mark Swartzentruber, Animated Music aims to shake off the perception that classical music is stuffy or elitist and to break down the barriers that prevent people from experiencing it.

'Classical music can be exhilarating, fun, emotive, inspiring. Everyone should have the chance to enjoy it,' says Mark. By putting on high quality, accessible, low cost concerts at local venues Animated Music hopes to help people do just that.

On 27th June we staged an outdoor classical concert in Landseer Gardens as part of Holloway Arts Festival 2009.

In October 2007, Mark Swartzentruber performed a spooky concert for Halloween at Whittington Park Community Centre.

In December 2007 Duo Snapdragon, featuring Sarah Field on saxophone and Mike Hamnett on marimba took children on a magical musical journey through a winter wonderland. The children took part throughout, playing instruments, dancing and learning more about instruments and music.

Also in December 2007 Mark Swartzentruber played Scarlatti, Debussy and Beethoven at a piano recital held at St John the Evangelist Church.

Mark also played outdoor concerts at Landseer Gardens during the Holloway Arts Festival in 2008 and again in 2009.
