Halloween 2007
31 October 2007 saw an evening of macabre music, creepy costumes and spine-chilling spectacle in Whittington Park. Pianist Mark Swartzentruber played a selection of pieces with a spooky theme including Ondine, Le Gibet and Scarbo from Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit, Skryabin's Black Mass Sonata and Saint Saens' Danse Macabre.
This was followed by a procession of children in costumes they had made at workshops on the theme of Mexican Day of the Dead. They led the crowd to the outside perfomance area where Scarabeus performed the magical, melancholy Danza Antigua. A fireworks display ensured the evening ended with a bang.
"Thank you so much for the lovely Halloween party. We loved Scarabeus and the parade and fireworks, but even more than that, we loved seeing all our friends and neighbours from various parts of our life gathered together" Local resident.
